Helping People See
According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 285 million people worldwide experience visual impairment, with 39 million classified as blind. Among these individuals, a significant proportion, approximately 80%, have conditions that could have been prevented or treated. This highlights the critical need for vision care and the importance of early intervention to address preventable blindness and visual impairments.
In addition, statistics indicate that around 2.7 billion people require vision correction through glasses or contact lenses. It is estimated that approximately 60% of the global population will need corrective eyewear by the age of 45. This staggering figure underscores the growing demand for accessible eye care and the pivotal role that organizations like the San Tan Lions Club play in providing services and support to those in need of vision assistance in our communities.
What We Do
Eyesight Screenings
We go all around to schools and public events providing free eyesight screenings to determine if you are in need of an eye exam. We’ll even help pay for the eye exam if you can’t afford it on your own!
Eyeglass Donations
We provide donation stations for eyeglasses all around San Tan Valley. These glasses are cleaned and sorted in the Arizona Lions Vision Center.
Accessibility
We provide educational resources to help individuals learn how they can make their physical and digital goods more accessible to those with low or no vision.
